Accomplishments
 Plymouth County Education Association was founded in 1835.
 Helped with Horace Mann to found Bridgewater State College (Bridgewater Normal School) the oldest teacher training institution in the U.S.A.
 Supported other professional educational associations in times of crisis.
 Instrumental in the founding of the Plymouth County Teachers' Federal Credit Union.
 Updated and reorganized the Association to reflect educational progress.
 Provided financial assistance to local associations for legal fees.
 Led the United Teaching Profession commitment to Political Action and Legislative clout.
 Led in the adoption of the Code of Ethics of Educators and the enforcement procedures.
 Led the way in instituting programs, conferences, and conventions, which later were adopted by the M.T.A.
Services
 Supports other professional educational associations in times of crisis.
 Conducts low cost Professional Development courses on the graduate level for members. Negotiates the acceptance of these courses by Framingham State College.
 Extends recognition to members of the County Association who achieve outstanding professional accomplishments.
 Maintains an office for the day-to-day operation of the Association and as a source of instant information for members.
 Provides a newsletter to keep members informed of P.C.E.A. matters.
 Originates and provides a two-day Southeastern Massachusetts Educators Conference with cooperation from Bristol and Norfolk Counties to assist local members with professional development.
 Provides a yearly Legislative Conference to update the membership on pending legislation on the state and national levels which effect education and educators. All P.C.E.A. legislators are invited to attend.
 Provides Professional Development Points toward state mandated recertification.
Actively seeks out our own county educators to lead courses and workshops to promote professional growth.
